Originators

An originator is the person or organisation providing the funds for a payment.

Your merchant configuration determines whether you must provide originator information.

  • If you make payments using your own funds (for example, paying employees or suppliers), you are the originator, and you may not need to provide originator details.
  • If you make payments using funds that belong to another person or organisation, they are the originator. For example, when paying insurance claims on behalf of policyholders, or disbursing customer funds. Your merchant configuration may require the details of the person or organisation supplying the funds.

If you are using the Transaction API, see the Originator object in the transaction request schema for the available fields. For more information, see Create transaction request.
